JOB SUMMARY

Contribute to Sanford operations and processes while obtaining first hand experiences that align with the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Work collaboratively with organization leadership, enhancing knowledge and skills and improving the delivery of quality healthcare. Assist in the completion of projects and administrative duties while developing skills related to the assigned function and/or location. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborates with departmental associates and management. Researches business related data and generates and interprets basic analytics. Demonstrates a basic understanding of organizational project management practices and tools. Demonstrates the ability to speak, write and present clearly. Delivers formal and informal stand-up presentations or demos to audiences of all kinds. Identifies tasks or outputs that require accuracy and detail-level attention. DEPARTMENT DETAILS

Primary responsibilities will include standardization of supply between two surgical campus locations, standardization of instrument trays, cycle counting to maintain inventory levels, and identification of supply chain opportunities. Map out processes between campus locations; identify variations and recommend standardization for process improvement. In addition to standardization and process improvement work, there will be an opportunity to work with providers to ensure preference cards are current, accurate, and standardized between both campus locations as applicable. Other projects are assigned related to revenue cycle, process improvement, and business functions. Day-to-day activities will include desk work- printing, comparison of preference cards, instrumentation, and supply. Cycle counting of certain carts on a scheduled basis will require intern to interact with staff members and enter the operating room area/suite. Observation and interaction with staff to gather data to map processes. Interaction with providers regarding preference cards. Interns will meet with mentors daily/weekly and participate in department leadership meetings bi-monthly to gain understanding of overall function of the perioperative area. Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office. The intern must commit to the hours scheduled during the 12-week internship, ranging from 20-32 hours a week with flexibility to the interns schedule. Great opportunity for a student with a desire for business management, project management, and/or computer/information technology experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

Current enrollment or recent graduate of an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program from an accredited college or university. Knowledge of healthcare industry preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
